False alarm(s)

On Tuesday April 8, around 4pm, I started having some contractions.
Rob came down for his break, and I was lying on the couch. He asked how I was doing, and l said I was fine. He went back upstairs to work. He came back down at about 6:15 and I asked if he wanted to go on a drive. He asked where, and I said to the hospital. He asked if I was serious, and how long they had been going on. I told him that they started around 4, and were about 4 minutes apart. (I wanted to wait as long as I could and not make rob miss more work then he had to) We called robs mom and asked if she could come watch Anistyn, she was heading out the door, so I said I could call Katy and Brent. She said they were going together. They were headed out the door to pick them up, then they would swing by and pick up Anistyn. When they had Anistyn, rob and I drove to the hospital. When we arrived, contractions were strong and uncomfortable and 3-4 minutes apart. They put us in a triage room around 7 and hooked me up to the monitors. They checked me, and I was a 2. (At my apt on Monday, I was a 1.5) they wanted to watch my contractions for an hour and then check again and see if I was progressing. We waited an hour, were checked, and I hadn't progressed, so they suggested we go walk around for an hour and see if that helped. We went and walked to the cafeteria and got something to eat, and of walked while I ate my sandwich. When we got back to the room, and hooked up again, we were checked again. And there was no change, so we began talking about options. I knew I didn't want the same experience I had with Anistyn (being sent home on morphine and going into labor and sleeping through the whole labor experience) morphine was a suggestion, and my back was hurting so bad that it was tempting, but we decided on some percocet and going to bed. Rob dropped me off, and he went and picked Anistyn up from Brent and Katy's house and got her into bed. I took a bath and climbed into bed myself. It was about 11:30. The Percocet helped my back, but I hated the feeling of it. I felt like a floating head. I finally fell asleep around 12:30. At about 3:30 am, I woke up and had to go to the bathroom. Things were normal until I was washing my hands, I felt like I had to go to the bathroom again, so I did, but there was a gush and I thought my water broke. I wasn't feeling any contractions, so I decided to change the sheets on the bed, clean our bedroom a little (rob was sleeping in anistyns bedroom in case she woke up, since we didn't know if I would hear her being on the pain killers.) I finally woke rob up, told him what happened, and called Katy to come over while Anistyn slept. So off we went to the hospital again. Again we were put in the triage room, and again we waited. I explained what happened, and apparently it didn't sound like my water broke to the nurses. They did some tests, and we waited until the results came back, and they were negative. So we were sent home again. It was frustrating to be sent home for the 2nd time, and I decided that I wasn't going back to the hospital unless my water broke. We had set a date a couple weeks before to be induced, so I decided that I could hold out until then (Friday the 11th)

18 months of fun

The last 18 months have been so much fun! I have loved every minute of being a mom, even on the frustrating days (which to be honest, are so few and far between with Anistyn)

Anistyn turning 18 months old marked 2 big events for us. 1- it means baby girl #2 was almost here. 2- nursery!! For all you parents out there, this is HUGE. I was so excited for Anistyn to go to nursery so rob and I could actually go and listen to our church meetings. Well, Anistyn is yet to make it to nursery. She was sick the first week we were going to take her, and then I had to leave church early the next week, and then she was super grumpy the next week. One day, we will make it (although i don't know when, since it's conference this week, and we will have a new baby in the next couple of weeks.... But someday....)

Anistyn has always been a smart, active baby (yeah, yeah, I know my opinion may be a little biased, but still... She is a smart little girl!) here are some of the things she says and does:

What's that?

Who's that?

Mommy, daddy (and other forms like ma, da, etc- and now knows who is who, for a while we were both either mom or dad.)

Grandpa, grandma, nana, baby, and Katy.

She is very good about telling us what she wants if you ask a yes or no question.

She sings "let it to" from frozen like it's going out of style (she is also singing to the other songs now too, but I can't really tell what she is singing -I think we picked her middle name well, Kaleolani means heavenly melody in hawaiian-)

She loves to kiss her baby sister first thing in the morning and last thing before bedtime.

She loves bath time, especially when there are bubbles, and she just learned to say "bubble" she loves having her hair washed, and says "gulp, gulp" as the water makes a noise filling up the water bottle I use for it.

She is great at cleaning up her toys. And now sings her version of the "clean up song" while I sing it. She sings the clean up part, but makes up her own words to the other parts.

She loves to watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse, and says "oh toodles" when Mickey does. She also loves to dance to the hot dog song at the end.

She still eats everything except for pancakes (I've even tried blueberry and had syrup on them, and she doesn't like them) she is a great eater and is now trying to become more independent (and messy-I have pictures to prove it) scrambled eggs are still probably one of her favorites.

She knows a lot of animal sounds (thank you iPad!) she does the sounds for dog, cat (which is my favorite to hear her say) duck, bee, monkey, cow, goat, and bird. She also knows the sound a train and police make.

The thing that makes rob super happy about her, is she has recently started saying "ball" and loves to play with baseballs and softballs, and pretty much anything sports. She also can spot the MLB logo, and says ball. (I told ya she is smart!)

She loves to read books to herself, and to us.

She loves feeding her baby doll, trying to put clothes on them, and changing their diapers. She is gonna be such a good big sister!

She has figured out how to take her pjs off, and her pants. Luckily she hasn't really figured out one onesie and diaper yet.

She loves to wrestle with rob. She pushes him over and also does push ups with him (so funny to watch!) her daddy is still her favorite person. She is almost the spitting image of him, besides my hair and skin color.

She is still not the most cuddly little girl, but she is doing it more and more lately. She loves to give kisses, and blow kisses, and she has the cutest little wave.

When she sees her bottle, or I tell her it's bedtime, she goes and turns the tv off, it doesn't matter if rob is still watching it, or I'm coming back to watch it, she turns it off. She also turns it on first thing in the morning because Mickey Mouse is on, and she eats cereal and watches it while I make breakfast.

That's our little girl in a nutshell.  She does a whole lot more, but I can't think of it all right now. Here are some of my favorite pictures lately.

Maternity pictures

I was able to have maternity pictures taken this time around (I could never find the time to get them done with Anistyn) I was really nervous about getting them done. I wanted to document this pregnancy, but its hard to want pictures taken when you feel like a hippo, and are VERY self cautious about how I look. And of course, I was having a bad hair day and running late. (Isn't that how it always goes?) Anyway, a girl in my ward does photography, and she is who took them. HUGE Shout out to Mckenzie. Please check out her website at www.unabridgedgirl.com She was so fun to work with, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my pictures. (seriously, go check her out!) We have a few more pictures (but I haven't seen them yet- but they have the babies name in them, so I wouldn't post them anyway) Here are the maternity pictures I got with Anistyn:
Here are Baby #2's maternity pictures. These were taken at 35 weeks
(I apologize about a few of them being taken from facebook, I dont have the CD yet with all the pictures.) ONCE AGAIN, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MCKENZIE. www.unabridgedgirl.com!

Baby #2

Baby #2 (who is named, but were keeping it on the down low until she arrives) is due April 18th. This pregnancy has been VERY different from the pregnancy I had with Anistyn. Anistyn was a piece of cake. I was sick for maybe 3 weeks with her. B#2 had me sick up until about 30 weeks. Around week 14 my doctor took pity on me and gave me a prescription to help with it. I tried not to take it, but sometimes, I just didn't have a choice. In fact, even at 35 weeks, I still have to take it every once in a while. The sickness was one of the reasons I thought this baby was a boy. One of the other differences I've noticed with this pregnancy is that I am A LOT smaller then I was with Anistyn. We have changed our habits this time around, and that may be part of the reason. I don't drink carbonation (my last carbonated drink was the night before I had Anistyn, just shy of 18 months ago) we don't eat out near as much as we did. We started going to the gym (which I haven't done in a while-but I'll get to that later) and oh yeah... I'm chasing after an 18 month old. I do find it very difficult to fall asleep at night, and then I wake up, check on Anistyn, and can't fall asleep again for a couple of hours. Luckily, Anistyn takes 2, 2 hour naps a day, and I can usually take a nap with her. Rob works from home now, so I also get to sleep in a little and he will take care of her (although she usually wakes up between 8:30 and 9. Now onto the fun part of this pregnancy... In December I was having really sharp back pain, that made it almost impossible to move, or sit, or lay down. I had had kidney stones in the past, and was sure that's what I had then, but since we didn't have insurance until January 1st, I made myself deal with the pain, and I refused to take any Tylenol to help it. The pain eventually went away after about 2 weeks. It came back in February and I talked to my dr about it. He ran some tests, and I was right. Kidney stones, and a UTI (uti's are not good when pregnant, they can put you into labor-which is the reason I had Anistyn early- I had a UTI then too) the dr gave me something for the UTI, but there isn't anything you can really do for a kidney stone while pregnant, so we just decided to watch it. Around January, I also started having contractions. They were not your normal Braxton hicks contractions (although I was having those too) they were painful, and sometimes as close together as 7 minutes. In mid January, and a routine dr apt, the doctor checked, and I had started to dialate, so I was put on "modified" bed rest. That means do only what I had to to take care of Anistyn, and nothing else. He said we wanted to keep her in until at least 37 weeks (which is considered full term) then on Monday, rob got tickets to go to the jazz game from work, I was having contractions already, and I didn't want to chase Anistyn around, so I told him to ask if his brother wanted to go. The contractions got really close and painful, and there was so much pressure that I couldn't even walk or stand. I managed to get Anistyn down for bed, and took a bath (which sometimes helps slow or stop my contractions) but this time it didn't help. I hadn't had to take the contraction medicine yet, and I was afraid to take it when it was just Anistyn and I at home. I finally crawled (literally) into bed and was in tears. I felt like maybe I should go to the hospital, but I was terrified of having b#2 early. I called the dr on call, and I text rob and told him what I was feeling, and asked that he come home first so he and Brent could give me a blessing, before taking Brent home. The dr called me and gave me instructions on how to try and make the contractions stop (all which I had already tried) and we agreed that it should hold off on the medicine until rob was home- just in case)  and if they didn't stop or slow down or ease up within an hour, I needed to go to the hospital) Rob and Brent took trax, and had a delay (they think they hit a deer) so Brent sent Katy over to sit with me. When Katy got here, I took the medicine and laid in bed. When the guys got home, I got a blessing, and almost immediately fell asleep. The medicine knocked me out, and I felt the side effects for about 24 hours after. (I really hope I don't have to take it again) needless to say, my dr called when he got back into the office, and I was put on 2 weeks of straight bedrest. He said at 37 weeks I can start to try having the baby, so I fully intend daily walks around the hills in herriman. So here I am, laying in bed, updating the blog because Anistyn is napping, rob is working, and I can't sleep.

I'm so excited to meet this little girl, and watch Anistyn and her grow and play together. Anistyn already loves her little sister, and loves to kiss my belly, feed my belly, and say baby. Here are some pictures of this baby, and pregnancy. Finding out at 4 weeks
